2016 NAPHN Conference is Announced
Our friends at the North American Passive House Network have just announced their 2016 Conference & Expo details. After a very successful 2015 event in Vancouver, the Passive community will be heading to New York City next year. Next year's theme will be Achieving 80% carbon reductions by 2050, or "80 by 50"- a goal that high-performance wood windows and doors will play a key role in achieving. For the full event details, visit the NAPHN Website.
Event: NAPHN16: Achieving 80 by 50 Date: June 13 & 14th, 2016 Place: Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York, NYConference sessions will feature the latest Passive House developments, including: • Urban, high density and high-rise buildings • Low-rise and rural approaches • Buildings from the arctic to the tropics • Expert scientists from the Passive House Institute • Policymakers with growing expertise in implementing Passive House programs • Multi-family housing, both affordable and market rate • Integration of renewable energy • Steel and concrete construction, wood frame construction and cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction • The processes, details and results • Expert speakers from around the world including, Europe, the Americas and Asia
New York City is leading by example. Mayor Bill de Blasio has issued a call to action in his policy report One City: Built to Last, and stated at the groundbreaking of Cornell Tech’s new residential tower: “Passive House makes sense as a phrase, but I think it is an activist notion – a transformative notion…This is one example of how New York City can show the world a model that works in today’s reality.”#NAPHN16 Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
